How to Read Schematics & identify Electronic ComponentsSee Appalachia whereKK4WW N4USA is located http://www.floydfolks.orgFollow us at http://www.twitter.com/n4usaGreat information about circuit (schematics) diagrams and electronic sysbolshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circuit_diagram All you want to know about electronic componentshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_componentReading and identifying electronic components is skill a needed skill for folks working with electronics. Many of the components have gone to microchips or surface mount technology. However to do any trouble shooting or fixing - even your cars electrical system requires some of this skill. I hope this video will give viewers an idea how to get started. Some of these skills are needed to obtain an amateur radio license. I have used this skill sense I started building simple crystal radios 62 years ago at age 10. I have used this ability almost daily everyday during that time. Even to wire a simple door bell circuit required some of this skill so just learn-it-now.David started at age 8 building Using or teaching about electronic devices - that was 65 years ago. It started with a crystal radio then ham license at 14 yrs http://tinyurl.com/7ym7s7c , Navy electronics at 17ys old , Field Engineer at 21yrs old http://tinyurl.com/83mce63 , teaching 'Electronics for Scientist' at Virginia Tech at 29yrs , Director of 'Foundation for Amateur International Radio Service' (FAIRS) at 52 yrs and at 73 he is still busy with electronics. Collector of historical Microcomputers http://tinyurl.com/7hmuj3z & along the way David has small collection of ham radio equipment.Video produced by the LCF Group, LCF Group consisting of David Larsen KK4WW, Gaynell Larsen KK4WWW and Dee Wallace KG4VMI. ( We are on The Crooked Road Heritage Music Trail and the Round The Mountain Artisan and Craftsman Trail - great place to visit Floyd Virginia ). We operate 'Chantilly Festival Farm' & 'Bugbook Historical Computer Museum' , are all radio amateurs & Directors of "The Foundation for Amateur International Radio Service" ( FAIRS) also located in Floyd Virginia. N4USA is the radio call for FAIRS and we have operated in Dominica as J79WW J79WWW J79VMI & many DX locations. We are members of " The Floyd Amateur Radio Society" FARS. The LCF Group ( 1-540-745-2322 )The LCF Group has developed and maintains the following web sites.http://www.floydcountyvirginia.org our county business directoryhttp://www.virginiamountainland.com our land for sale by owner web sitehttp://www.lcfarticles.com a publishing site with many ham radio storieshttp://www.chantillyfarm.com Where we have our annual 'Bluegrass & BBQ' Festival May 26 http://www.fairs.org all about "Foundation for Amateur International Radio Service" FAIRS N4USA Hamradio stationhttp://www.bugbookcomputermuseum.com Our Historical Microcomputer museum in Floyd VirginiaWe maintain the Floyd Virginia community amateur radio station N4USA and have a small historical microcomputer museum in the Village Green #8 Floyd VA a few words we use all them time bugbook ham_radio amateur_radio

Mar 3, 2012 - I dont understand what do the arrows mean by ground, what is ground, why everything goes down to ground=?
lcfgroup says:
Mar 3, 2012 - Good question - Ground is just a common connection between all the points that connect to it - It is called ground because it is the part of the circuit that is normally tied to electrical ground -- if the electronic device is powered from an AC source that has an earth ground then it is real earth ground.
loombaron says:
Mar 4, 2012 - for example a guitar fx pedal that works with a 9v DC adapter. The 9 V connector would be real earth ground right?
lcfgroup says:
Mar 4, 2012 - Most likely the pedal is the connected to the common ground and I would think that would be the - or negative side of the power adapter. Dave KK4WW & Historical Computer Collector.

Apr 24, 2012 - Thank you for the nice comment - I do hope you found this useful. I enjoy making the videos and plan a lot more of the electronic education ones. They are easy for me to do as I taught electronics at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg Va for 31 years - been retired for 14 years - Dave KK4WW
